Anambra State Fire Service controls fire incidents at residential home, near gas plant

Personnel of Anambra State Fire Service have  arrested two major fire incidents in the capital territory, Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili disclosed in Awka.

Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili advised that people should always switch off electrical and electronic appliances whenever they leave your home, office, market, church, mosque, etc.

Details of his statement are as follows:

At about 1133hrs (11.33am) of Thursday 08-02-2024, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of fire outbreak in a residential home of one storey building at No. 11 Chukwuogor Street Amikwo, Awka.

Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and gallant firefighters to fire scene. The fire was fought, controlled and distinguished. The ground floor of building and other nearby buildings were saved while its first floor was completely damaged. A lot would have been saved if we were contacted in time.

The cause the fire was Power surge and there was no life was lost.

NTA later arrived at the fire scene to witness part of the fire fighting operation.

We withdrew from the fire scene at about 1451hrs (2.51pm).

NOTE:

👉TIME of distress call will determine TIME of response.

👉Always switch off your electrical and electronic appliance whenever you are leaving your home, office, market, Church, Mosque, etc.

HEAVY FIREOUTBREAK BEHIND SINAI GAS PLANT, AWKA

At about 2122hrs (9.22pm) of Tuesday 06-02-2024, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of heavy Fire outbreak behind SINAI Gas plant, Awka

Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and gallant Firefighters to scene of fire and fought, controlled and extinguished the fire. 

The cause of the Fire was Bush Fire which was started by unknown person(s) and caused a lot of panic within that environ.

During the firefighting operations, we were able to control the fire and saved the gas plant and no life was lost.

We withdrew from the fire scene at about 2241hrs (10.41pm) after fighting the fire to standstill and calming the situation.

It is also important that we clear all bushes around our environment especially at this dry season and harmattan to avoid had I known.

My appreciation to those that alerted us in time.

Remember, time of distress call will always determine the time of response.*
