Fedpoly Oko : Library Science trounces Mass Comm in 2020/2021 football tournament 4 -2

The opening ceremony of 2020/2021 football tournament of School of Information Technology, Federal Polytechnic, Oko has commenced in grand style with Mass Communication and Library and Information Science Departments.The aforementioned departments make of the School of Information Technology.

The game kicked off on Friday, March 12 2021 around 1.00pm at the Polytechnic football pitch, Oko Orumba North Local Government Area. The kick off was performed by President of Infortech students on behalf of the Dean of the school, Dr. Onyeka Uwakwe. 

The first leg of the match was between ND1 students of mass communication and HND 1 and 2 students of Library and Information Science.

HND 1 and 2 of Library and Information Science claded in red Jersey flawed ND 1 Mass communicationby by four goals to two, as both teams tried to outplay the other, whereby the first half ended two to one.

The second half equally ended with two to one on the side of Library and Information Science which made them trounce the match.

Speaking shortly after the match, the President of School of Information Technology, Mr. Emmanuel Edeh said the game has the objective of fostering the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, as well as promoting physical exercise among students of the departments.

He added that the game, apart from encouraging emerging and hidden talents, promotes a fitness exercise which is beneficial to mental and physical wellbeing of participants and students.

"Today is the opening ceremony of 2020/2021 football tournament between Mass Communication and Library and Information Science department. They are the two department that make up the School of Information Technology. The essence of the sporting competition is to unify the both departments and make them see themselves as one".

Also the Sports Director of Mass Communication department, Mr.Chukwuebuka Ezeike described the league as well organized, adding that it has provided alternative platform for talented youths to exhibit their football skills. 

He revealed that promoting sports, inspiring young athletes, and increasing healthy competition will help students and young ones to florish. 

Mr. Ezeike encourages all youths to participate in sports or other regular physical activity which according to him physical exercise is good for the mind, body and spirit.

 



In an interview, the Captain of HND1 and 2 Library and Information Science, Mr Somtochukwu Nwannadi expressed happiness that they won, assuring that his team will continue to lead in su subsequent matches. 

"For over two years now, this is the first time we are winning a match in this school. I believe my team has done well by bringing us to the fore. I want to implore them to keep it afloat and not to relent in subsequent ones.

The Captain of the loosing side from ND1  Mass Communication department, Mr. Onyekachi Okechi, whom by physical outlook was not happy over the match said that his team will buckle up in the next match to make the win the trophy.

The match is expected to continue tommorow by different classes both departments.
