Enyimba FC have won the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League and have  qualifed  for CAF Champions League.

Despite playing out a 1-1 stalemate draw with last season's champions, Rivers United, in the Super Six play-offs at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Lagos, Sunday evening, Enyimba  emerged winners of the Nigeria   Premier League.

The Aba Elephants claimed their 9th domestic elite title on goal difference. Ekene Awazie of Enyimba shot Elephants ahead in the 39th minute, but the gains were equalled by Nyima Nwagua restored parity for Rivers United three minutes into the second half.

The victory gave Enyimba the giant trophy, N100m and a ticket to the Champions League. This is the first title win for Coach George Finidi  with the Elephants after a disappointing outing last season.

The new champions, the Elephants,  will be joined by Remo Stars FC of Ikenne as Nigeria's representatives in the CAF Champions League while Rivers United will participate in the CAF Confederation's Cup alongside winners (either of Rangers Int'l of Enugu or Bendel Insurance of Benin) of this year's FA Cup, popularly known as the Federation Cup
