Three Medicine and Surgery students of Abia State University Uturu returning to Aba from the school’s induction of medical students have died in an auto crash on Thursday.
The incident happened at the Okigwe axis of the Enugu-Umuahia Expressway.A source said the accident happened when the driver of the vehicle the students were travelling in lost control and summersaulted.
Six of them were said to be returning from Uturu when the accident happened. Three students have been confirmed dead, while two others are injured and are battling for their lives now in the hospital while one miraculously survived,” a source said.
Confirming the incident, the Corps Commander of the FRSC, Abia State, Fredrick Ogiden said his men went there shortly after the accident, stating that the vehicle was an ash-coloured private Toyota Camry.
