A fire outbreak in Ọgbọ Osisi Market in Onitsha Head Bridge, Anambra State forced traders to manually fight the inferno while waiting for professional services.
The incident which reportedly began in the night of Thursday, March 21, was close to Zenith Bank, by U.B.A. Bank, along the Port Harcourt Road, Onitsha.
An online video corroborated the incident. In the video, a male voice lamented the situation but called forthe urgent intervention of the Anambra State Fire Service as well as the attention and presence of other shop owners in the area.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, stated that officers of the Command, led by the DPO of the area, are currently at the fire scene, assisting to put off the fire, while also ensuring that people do not take ill advantage of the opportunity to loot people’s goods or perpetrate crimes in the area.
