As the national conference organised by the Department of Public Administration, Federal Polytechnic, Oko winds up with a workshop, conferees have called for more research funding in tertiary institutions. Presenters also harped on the importance of research in tertiary institutions in Nigria.
Conference participants have also called on younger lecturers to develop synergy with senior colleagues on mentorship. Participants urged students to be more diligent in the conduct of project research and always resort to supervisors for proper guide .
Presenters at the workshop included Ifegwu, A. Nduka, Ph.D, of the Department nof Public Administration who handled chapters 1 and 3 of a research project; Dr Onyeka Uwakwe and Dr Chimaroke Akakwandu of the Department of Mass Communication, Federal Polytechnic, Oko who handled chapters 2 and 4 respectively.
Kalu Peters from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Business School who treated Chapter 5 titled Summary of Fundings Conclusion and Recommendations. He urged students to ensure original piece. He urged researchers not to work in isolation in order reduce errors relating to sentence construction and weak reporting verbs.
Dr Uwakwe who presented the paper titled 'Chapter 2 in Social Science Research: Elements of Literature Review' advised students to be diligent in reviewing literature and be cautious about some online sources.
The Head, Department of Public Administration Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr Ogochukwu Eberinwa urged all students participating in the conference to take great advantage of the workshop in fulfilling final project requirements.
