Rhodes, Lesner and WWE Night of Champions

Brock Lesnar defeated American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes via refereee's stoppage as Cody Rhodes refused to tap out, but passed out.

Cody Rhodes approached the match hurt with an injured arm which limited his capacity in every respect. Rhodes' disaster kick and Cody Cutter also did not deliver the expected results.

An attempt by Rhodes to inflict a third Cutter was reversed as Lesner caught up Rhodes in a grim Kimaru Lock. Rhodes was lucky to get to the ropes which saved him momentarily. Recall the WWE rope rule- a superstar must relieve his opponent when the rope is reached as no three count, or tap out is expected in the belt area. Rhodes wasn't lucky the next time.

Rhodes administered a third Cross Rhodes, but Beast Lesnar survived, deploying a devastating F5. Another Kimaru Lock from Lesner sealed the game as Rhodes passed out, promting the referee to stop the match.

Monday Night Raw May 29, 2023

Not done, Cody Rhodes posed another challenge against Lesnar, yet with an injured arm. He had earlier drawn flaks from his colleagues.

On the Monday Night Raw episode May 29, Cody Rhodes asserted he has once defeated Lesnar and that they were on 1-1 score line. He threw out another challenge against Lesner.

During his in-ring address, Rhodes delighted himself in singing along the American Nightmare theme song.

Despite his injured arms and a loss at Night of Champions, Cody Rhodes wants to face Brock Lesnar any time, any place, and anywhere!

Reflecting on his loss to Lesnar at WWE Night of Champions. Rhodes remarked that even though his fellow WWE superstars told him he was foolish to try and face Lesnar with an injured arm, he didn’t tap out even when he could have, because that isn’t the man he wants to be.

Rhodes said that he knew Lesnar is off on his “annual vacation,” and asked if Lesnar was satisfied with being done.

Rhodes said to him, the two are tied 1-1, and that he wants to settle their feud with another match.

Cody Rhodes capped his speech saying that Lesnar refusing the challenge would show that he was scared of “The American Nightmare.”

Beast Lesnar neither showed up, nor responded. Time will tell how the challenge will play out. What ever the situation, fans are apparently delighted to sing along the American Nightmare song.

Cody Rhodes Story

Some WWE fans wonder what the Cody Rhodes Story is all about. It's all about a family story steeped in fame and ambition.

You may add that Cody Rhodes wants to stamp his father's name firmly on the  WWE books. The following paragraphs tell the story.

In a report by sportskeeda, titled "I gotta finish the story," Cody Rhodes explains his story and details real reason why he wants to dethrone Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.

In that report, American Nightmare stated that it's his quest to win the WWE Championship and that he would love to do so by winning the title currently held by The Tribal Chief.

"I gotta finish the story. For those who don't know, 1978, my dad won the WWE title, but it was by over the top rope or disqualification is how he won the match. He put the belt on, big pantomime, the crowd's excited, but then they took it away. So you won the match but the champion got to keep the title, that's mentioned on RAW, so it's a real story."

He went on to say:

"I had that picture and that was my first dream ever, like, I'm gonna get it to him. I have the belt too, the original one. I showed it to Vince when we had our first meeting but as much as that belt is special, what Roman has is it."
