Members of Academic staff Union of Polytechnics, Federal Polytechnic Oko have elected their new Chapter Executive Council (CEC). The new CEC will serve for next two years.
The new CEC is led by the reelected Chairman Comrade Samuel Signor Igbokwe who won by 303 votes, beating his closest opponent Barr. F.M Oduah.
The reelected Vice Chairman is Comrade Francis Ime Okon who tracked 302 votes. It seems both chairman and vice have similar voter strength.
Other members of the CEC are comrades Benjamin Obioha, (secretary); Victor Alaribe,Assistant Secretary; Chinedu Maduka, Financial Secretary; Dr Beatrice Ezechukwu,Treasurer; Engr. U.C Osuji, Publicity Secretary; Obi Onyeka, Internal Auditor;Angela Ezekwe, Welfare Officer.

In his post election speech, ASUP Chairman, comrade Samuel Igbokwe promised to fulfil his campaign promises. Igbokwe reiterated his resolve to deal with arrears of allowances owed staff as well as other welfare matters. He commended members for peaceful conduct but also thanked all academic staff for finding him worthy.
Recounting his achievements in first tenure, Comrade Igbokwe asserted that the Fab Onyemaechi ASUP secretariat iniated by his administration speaks for itself. He also said his administration organised conference, workshops and had doled out befitting end of year packages to members. Comrade Igbokwe stated the peace on campus promoted by his administration and the Rector is something to cheer about. He commended the Rector, Engr Dr Francisca Unoma Nwafulugo for her peaceful disposition.
Comrade Igbokwe promised to liaise with management of the institution for the liquidation of the arrears of allowances owed staff. ASUP Chiarman promised to put in more energy in his second tenure to serve his colleagues better.
The elected officers were immediately sworn in by the Zonal Coordinator, ASUP Zone D Precious Nwakaudu.
