Paul Chukwuma, a former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a prominent aspirant for the party’s ticket in the forthcoming 2025 Anambra State governorship election, has strongly rejected claims of an established power rotation agreement among the state’s senatorial districts for the governorship position. During a media interaction at his residence in Nneyi Umueri, located in Anambra East Local Government Area, Chukwuma addressed these claims, describing them as misleading and entirely unfounded.
Chukwuma, who has been a long-time member of APC, emphasized that the issue of zoning is a concept associated with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the party that has dominated Anambra’s politics since 2006. He clarified that APC does not operate with such a formula and is instead focused on presenting a united front to take leadership in the state. According to Chukwuma, the power rotation narrative has been utilized primarily by political opponents to create unnecessary divisions and further their own interests, leveraging regional sentiments to gain political traction. He criticized those advocating for such zoning arrangements as politically opportunistic and accused them of manipulating emotional sentiments to exploit the political climate in their favor.
Chukwuma also offered a detailed critique of the current administration under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, expressing deep dissatisfaction with what he described as the state’s current governance shortcomings. According to Chukwuma, Soludo’s administration has failed to address some of the critical issues that have plagued the state, such as security challenges, infrastructural decay, and economic underdevelopment. He lamented the lack of effective policies to improve the lives of Anambra’s citizens, calling for a more inclusive, pragmatic approach to leadership.

In stark contrast, Chukwuma confidently outlined his vision for the state, asserting that he is the right candidate to bring about the changes Anambra desperately needs. “I have long been committed to the development of Anambra, and I am presenting myself for service with a clear and actionable plan to restore the state to its rightful place,” he said. Chukwuma promised a robust governance model focused on resolving security issues through a comprehensive strategy that prioritizes law and order while ensuring that no group, ethnicity, or political faction is discriminated against. He pledged that his administration would work tirelessly to protect the interests of every Anambra citizen and provide them with the stability needed for growth and prosperity.
In addition to security, Chukwuma emphasized the importance of fostering economic development, improving infrastructure, and addressing the critical challenges faced by the people of Anambra. “Under my leadership, we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Anambra becomes a beacon of progress in the Southeast,” he declared, assuring that his administration would reject all forms of nepotism and work towards creating a fair, transparent system that places the needs of the people first.
Chukwuma also expressed his confidence in the people’s ability to recognize the need for change and a new direction in the state’s leadership. He promised to bring fresh ideas and an inclusive approach to governance, working in tandem with key stakeholders, including local communities, business leaders, and civil society groups, to ensure that Anambra moves forward. “The future of Anambra lies in our collective hands,” he concluded, urging all citizens to support his candidacy in the hope of creating a more prosperous and united state.
With the 2025 governorship election fast approaching, Paul Chukwuma’s candidacy represents a shift in Anambra’s political dynamics, as he sets his sights on offering a new path to growth and stability for the state.
