The Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Ejike Okechukwu, and member representing Anaocha Constituency Two has described the proposed 2025 budget of ₦607 billion as a progressive blueprint for the state’s development.
Speaking to journalists during a press briefing at the state legislative complex following the budget presentation by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Sir Ejike commended the budget's emphasis on capital projects, with 77% allocated to capital expenditure and 23% to recurrent expenditure, while highlighting that the budget prioritizes infrastructure and development to advance the state’s progress.
The lawmaker acknowledged marginal decreases in allocations for certain sectors compared to the 2024 budget, for instance, the budget for water resources dropped from ₦9.3 billion in 2024 to ₦8.3 billion in 2025, transportation from ₦5.6 billion to ₦4.1 billion, and environmental improvement from ₦4.3 billion to ₦3.9 billion.
He assured that these adjustments would be thoroughly reviewed during deliberations before the budget’s passage
