HRM Igwe Emeka Nnamdi Okezie Oka-Ije2, traditional ruler of Okija has called the government to do more for the people to improve the living standard of the people.
The Igwe made the call at the Iwa-iji Okija festival 2024 to signify a year of Thanksgiving to God for a bountiful harvest.
The iwa-Iji Okija festival was held on low key at the palace of His Royal Majesty Igwe Emeka Nnamdi Okezie (Oka-Ije2) .
The traditional ruler, emphasised that low key Iwa-iji Okija festival was a form of telling the government that the people there is hungry in the land and hardship most especially the increase in pump prices which has skyrocketed the price of foodstuffs.
The traditional ruler called on the good people of Okija to continue to make supplications to God Almighty and show love among themselves.
The highlight of the event was the cutting of the roasted yam as a symbolic declaration that all sons and daughters of Okija can now eat yam.
Igwe in council, obi in council and other association and villages came with their cultural gift to pay homage to His Royal Majesty Igwe Emeka Nnamdi Okezie (Oka-Ije 2) Traditional ruler of Okija.
