After 17 days, the 2024 Paris Olympics have officially ended with the US coming top on medals table ahead of China. The Summer Olympics ended in a 19 days of competition (Jul. 26-Aug. 11).
The spectacular Olympics closing ceremony took place at Stade de France on Sunday. The event witnessed an official handoff to Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Games.
The closing show featured the parade of nations, a glimmering "Golden Voyager" artistic segment and a dance party starring French rock band Phoenix.
In a scene, Hollywood star Tom Cruise took the baton on the handoff to the Los Angeles Games.
The U.S. won the XXXIII edition of the Olympic Games on Sunday in Paris, slightly ahead of China.
The closing ceremony serves as the night cap to what have extraordinary days of games.
The United States finished this year's games with the most (126) medals. The US teams topped the 2024 Games medals table by winning 40 gold medals after the last game was decided on Sunday.
The US finished above China by winning more silver medals than China, scooping 44 while China had 27.
The U.S. led in medal count at the Paris games with 126, followed by China with 91, Britain with 65, and France with 64.
Closing show performers included Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The next Summer Olympics will hold in Los Angeles in 2028. The city hosted its first ever Games in 1932, and then again in 1984.
In the United States, Atlanta hosted the 1996 Olympics, which were the last Summer Games held in the United States.

The 2028 Olympics will start on July 14, 2028, with the Opening and Closing Ceremonies scheduled to be hosted jointly the Los Angeles Coliseum and SoFi Stadium. The Games will officially on July 30.
