The former member representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency Hon. Okwudili Ezenwankwo has condemned in its entirety the gruesome murder of his kinsman Nze Joseph Mohale Ezenwegbu and abduction of his campaign coordinator in Nanka ward 1, Chief Patrick Ezeanaka by yet to be identified gunmen.
Hon. Ezenwankwo recently won court cases instituted by his rival, Hon. Chinwe Nnabuife as Appeal Court recently ordered INEC to conduct a re-run election in Nanka Ward 1.
While speaking to newsmen shortly after he paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, Chief Ezenwankwo prayed Almighty God to expose those behind the dastardly act. He also urged the Commissioner of Police and all security agencies to come to the rescue of Nanka Community as unknown gunmen terrorised the hitherto peaceful community.
He declared Saturday 11th November 2023 as a black Saturday in Nanka as Ndi Nanka were thrown into mourning mood as unknown gunmen stormed the Etti Village of Nanka being one of his political strong hold and caused very serious havoc.

An eye witness account recalled how a gang of 4 armed men fully masked stormed the Etti Hall where Chief Joe Mohale Ezenwegbu, Ichie Partrick Ezeanaka and others were relaxing at about 8pm in a white Lexus 350 SUV and dragged Chief Patrick Ezeanaka into their vehicle while Joe Mohale Ezenwegbu who attempted to run was shot. It was reported that the armed men shot sporadically before they drove off with their victim, Chief Partrick Ezeanaka. Friends who came to the rescue of Chief Joe Mohale Ezenwegbu rushed him to Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi where he later died of gun shot wounds.
The ugly incident left Hon. Ezenwankwo and his people of Nanka devastated and heartbroken.
It will be recalled that just about a week ago, the Appeal Court sitting in Lagos withdrew the certificate of return issued to Chinwe Nnabife and ordered for a rerun election in 16 polling units in Nanka ward 1 at a date yet to be fixed.
Nanka Community currently is in a celebration mood thanking God for their son's victory at both the tribunal and appeal courts, was thrown into unprecedented mourning when the tragedy struck.
Hon. Ezenwankwo urges the law enforcement agencies to dismantle the safe haven of these unknown gunmen suspected to have their headquarters in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area from where they terrorise Communities in Anambra State.
It will be recalled that about three months ago, a kidnap attempt was made on Chief Partrick Ezeanaka at Etti village in Nanka, and he narrowly escaped them.
Last month, another man from Agbiligba Village Nanka was kidnapped when he was driving into his house and taken away. After some days, he was seen at Umuchukwu, near Umunze with his legs, hands and mouth tied, and dumped helpless. The man was later rescued by passersby. It took weeks of serious medical attention before he was able to regain himself.
Similar event also occurred about two weeks ago when the same unknown gunmen attempted to kidnap one Chief Nnaemeka Aginam of Etti village, Nanka who escaped by whiskers.
The incident of 11th November 2023 at the same Etti village, Nanka has shown the high level of insecurity in the State, particularly in Orumba North and South and the Commissioner of police is called upon to come to the aid of our Communities.
Hon. Ezenwankwo bemoaned the politicisation of this ugly incidents by his rival whose antics is to make Nanka unsafe for the re-election.
Hon. Ezenwankwo stated that while Nanka town has been in deep mourning, some heartless and irresponsible persons have been playing politics with serious security issue that led to the death and kidnapping of Nanka citizens, a barbaric act which ought to be condemned by all and sundry irrespective of political party or nativity.
Chief Ezenwankwo however advised those playing politics with the death and abduction of his kinsmen to desist otherwise God of Nanka people will visit them with similar calamity.
He once again appealed to the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that the perpetuators are not only identified but made to face the full wrought of the law.
