Accountancy students of Federal Polytecnic, Oko have emerged winners in a quiz competition for members of Tax Club (student body for promoting tax matters) held in the Department of Accountancy Federal, Polytechnic, Oko. The contestants in the quiz competition were from Tax Club of the polytechnic and that of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
The competition held when leaders of Society for Women in Taxation (SWIT), an organ of Chartered Institute of Taxation in Nigeria (CITN) visited the Accountancy Department of Federal Polytechnic, Oko Wednesday.
Led by the SWIT Anambra state Coordinator Dr. Mrs Ifeoma Obieri, the team was first received by the HOD Dr. Emmanuel C. Ezenwafor in his office before proceeding to interact with the students. The interaction was to sensitize the students on taxation matters.

The following persons emerged winners of the tax quiz competition:
1st position, Muoto Chibuzor of Federal Polytechnic Oko;
2nd position, Joseph Felix of Federal Polytechnic Oko;
3rd position Onuoha cynthia of Federal Polytechnic Oko;
4th position, Ani Chiamaka of Federal Polytechnic Oko.
Nwachukwu David and Egolum Oluebube J. both of Unizik won consolation prices from the SWIT team who anchored the quiz competition.

Some members of staff including immediate past Dean School of Financial Studies, Dr. C.M. Mbonu (under whose tenure as HOD Tax Club Federal Polytechnic Oko was founded), Mr. I.K. Nwafor and a former Tax Club President, Mr. Jonas Arinze Emmanuel.
Earlier in his interaction with the team, the Head of Accountancy Department Dr. Emmanuel C. Ezenwafor had appreciated the SWIT members for their sacrifices in sensitising the public on tax and related issues and prayed government at all levels to partner with them for the benefit of the society. He also appealed to the SWIT members to assist in sponsorship of Tax Club at FPO to boost the morale of the students in order to catch more young persons in the drive of a better society through information on tax that will eventually breed development.
Dr Ezenwafor expressed gratitude to the Rector, Engr. Dr. Unoma Francisca Nwafulugo for providing enabling environment for studies.

In a response the Federal Polytechnic Oko Tax Club President Miss Offor Happiness Adajesus expressed appreciation to the Head of Accountancy Department Dr. Ezenwafor and also to Dr. Mbonu and the SWIT team for the support being given to them.
The highlights of the event included presentation of prices to winners and group photograph with the SWIT team. Other students from both Federal Polytechnic Oko and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka were on ground to witness the event.
The HOD Accountancy Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Emmanuel C. Ezenwafor applauded students of both institutions for exceptional performances. He expressed gratitude to the SWIT team for the visit.
The Department of Accountancy, Federal Polytechnic, is one the leading accountancy departments in Nigeria. The department is accredited by NBTE and has produced several graduates with exceptional performances in academia and the industry. The Department has renowned faculty members such as Dr. C. Ubaka and Dr. J.C. Aroh. Former Rector of the institution, Dr .U.C Nzewi also taught in the Department.
