Evangelist Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, Lagos has called for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu currently held by the DSS.
Evangelist Obi made the appeal when he received Senator Osita Izunasor of Orlu Senatorial District, Imo State during his birthday ceremony in Lagos on Sunday .
The prophet asserted that the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will go a long in ensuring that peace returns in southeast, especially the Orlu Senatorial District, the constituency of the prophet.
Evangelist Obi stated that the only birthday gift he wants from the governor of Imo State and Senator Izunasor is the release of the IPOB leader.
Evangelist Obi regretted that many successful Igbos have relocated to Asaba Delta State, adding that such a situation does not encourage the development of southeast states.
Evangelist Obi said, "I am coming from the angle of peace, I know his release will bring peace to Igbo."
Senator Izunaso in response said that he had earlier moved a motion on the floor of the Senator demanding the release of Kanu. However, he promised to make fresh moves aimed at freeing Mazi Kanu.

Mr Kanu was widely reported to have fled the country in September 2017 after an invasion of his home by the military in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia, Abia State. There are reports of unconfirmed number of civilians who lost their lives in that attack.
The Nigerian government obtained a court order on September 20, 2017, to designate IPOB a terrorist group and to proscribe it.
