It was a splendid day marked by stately activities at Dunukofia Palace, Ukpo as His Majesty Igwe Dr Robert C. Eze (Okofia VI), Igwe Ukpo and Clan Head of Dunukofia celebrated his 86th birthday.
The ceremony which held at Dunukofia Palace on July 15, 2023 attracted a wide range of other dignitaries including Gov. Charles Soludo, AIG Zone 13, Ukpo, Mr Tony Olofu and APGA Chairman, Hon. Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa.

The event also attracted high ranking clergies such as Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Bishop of Awka, His Grace, The Most Revd Dr Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim and The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor.
Ichie Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze (Ichie Chinemeze N'Ukpo) Principal Secretary to the Igwe of Ukpo announced a long but abridged list of many dignitaries from all walks of life. They include the Traditional Ruler of Ifitedunu, Igwe Emeka Ilouno; Traditional Ruler of Umuawulu, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu; Traditional Ruler of Umudioka, Igwe Raphael Chukwurah and Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna.
About His Majesty
HM, Igwe Dr Robert Chukwudilim Eze was born in 1937 on a native Eke Day to the marriage of HRM Igwe Michael Anaekwe Eze and his first wife, Elizabeth Mgbeke Eze, Ada Okeke Akpaka of Akpu Village, Ukpo. He has 16 other half brothers, out of whom are Prince Goddy, Prince Justus Udenweze, Prince Engr Arthur Ikpechukwu, Prince Joseph, Prince Michael, and Prince Okechukwu who are still alive.
HM Igwe Robert Eze started his school journey from Central School Ukpo and later Central School Abagana for his standard VI. He later attended DMGS, Onitsha. He was notured by different school teachers whom his father sent him to live with in those days. Among them was Sir Alex Akabua who later became one of his respected cabinet members. He proceeded to study in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he became an astute scholar in Chemistry. On graduation, he became a teacher for some years before he traveled overseas to study medicine. He later qualified as a medical doctor.
He ascended the historic Traditional Throne of Dunukofia Clan which existed from 1796, after his elder brother, Igwe Dr Walter C. Eze, in 1992. This Throne has served the entire Dunukofia Communities before Ifitedunu, Umunachi, Umudioka, and Ukwulu started having their recognized traditional rulers. Ukpo and Igwe Ukpo remain beacon of Unity and hope for entire Dunukofia.
